Tom Ogburn became Senior Pastor for Westwood Baptist Church on September 30, 2018. Before coming to Westwood Tom served as pastor for congregations in Knoxville, Tennessee and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tom also spent a decade as a missionary and as a part of the missions staff for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Tom is a graduate of Campbell University (B.S.), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University (D.Min.). Tom shares a history with Westwood, serving as its church planter and first pastor, however he is more excited about the future he and the church have together in ministry.
Tom has been married to Beth for over 30 years and remains thrilled that she said “yes” those many years ago. They are grateful for their family. They have a son, Aaron. He and is wife, Grace, serve as missionaries with Pioneer Bible Translators. They also have a daughter, Elizabeth, who is finishing graduate degrees in social work and theology. Beth is an ordained minister and works in hospice as a Bereavement Coordinator. Tom is touched by how she loves and cares for those walking the journey with grief.
Tom is trying to grow his skills in the kitchen and has recently found a love for fly-fishing. He has a passion for books and a love for history. He also has a ridiculously large collection of elephants from across the globe. Tom and Beth enjoy spending time with people, hearing their life story.
