A Warm
Westwood Welcome to
Dr. Dennis Bazemore

On Sunday, December 16, 2007 at a special Called Business Meeting the Westwood congregation voted to call Dr. Dennis Bazemore as our interim pastor. We are excited that Dr. Bazemore will begin his duties on the first of February. He presently holds the position of Vice President for Student Life at Campbell University and resides with his wife Linda in Lillington.

Dr. Bazemore received his BA in Religion from Campbell College in 1977, his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1982, and his Doctor of Ministry from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1999.

He has pastored Baptist churches in Lillington, Chadbourn, and Wallace NC and served as Interim Pastor at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC, and most recently at Lillington Baptist Church in Lillington, NC.

As our Interim Pastor, Dr. Bazemore will be the primary preacher for the Sunday morning worship service and the Wednesday evening prayer meeting. He is well qualified and highly recommended to fill this role at Westwood while we endeavor to discern the will of God for our next Senior Pastor. Let’s all make sure Dr. Bazemore receives the warm welcome and love that Westwood is known for as he comes to guide us in this interim period.

Information Meeting on BSC

It has come to my attention that a number of the church body did not understand that the vote at the November Quarterly Business Meeting to change Westwood’s mission giving direction would affect our affiliation with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.

At that meeting, you voted to make our future mission giving contributions through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina rather than the Baptist State Convention.

In order to clear up any misunderstanding and give everyone an opportunity to express his or her views on this subject, Church Council has scheduled an information meeting to be held on Sunday, January 13 after the morning worship service in the Fellowship Hall. The youth will provide a fundraiser meal preceding the meeting.

Dear Church Family

Words are inadequate to express the deep appreciation that we have for you. Your love, prayer support, cards, letters, food and gifts in this time of sorrow have lifted our spirits and sustained us. We especially appreciate the overwhelming support as many of you came to the service in Wilmington. Mama is at peace now as she enjoys her new body and new home with the Lord. God bless each of you for all that you mean to us and for all that you have done for us in these days.

In His Love, Charles, Gloria and Family

THANKS
