Words from the "Interim"...

I am grateful for the opportunity to worship, to serve, and to minister with you during this special time which is most often called the “Interim.” It is a time between a pastor leaving the church (retirement with Rev. Allard) and the call of a new pastor to begin service. Linda and I look forward to getting to know you on Sundays and Wednesdays when we will be with you in worship, fellowship and Bible Study.

It is my prayer that this “Interim Period” will go especially well for Westwood Baptist Church. Through my study of your website, listening to others describe Westwood, visiting your facilities and meeting the church staff, I believe you are a church with a mission and purpose-that you have great strength-that you have excellent leadership-that you were lead exceptionally well by your former pastor-that you are a welcoming church with a special fellowship-that you have a vision to serve and minister in Cary and beyond!

These days ahead are going to be very good days for Westwood.
I encourage you to be present for Sunday School, Morning Worship, and other times when the church gathers and to pray daily for the church during this transition.

Blessings,
Dennis N. Bazemore

Dear Friends at Westwood,
Ralph took off at the break of dawn this morning with a car so full I’m not sure how he is going to fit Tivadar, our Hungarian pastor friend, inside it. It was full of Samaritan purse Christmas boxes and bags of goodies we put together. There were not enough boxes for the children of the Roma (Gypsy) missions we support so we put together bags too. That’s where you come in...We used the hats, gloves, school supplies, toothpaste, etc that you sent.
We also used some of your items to help an orphanage of mostly Roma kids who needed Christmas presents and a group of kids from Josh’s school was putting them together.
In the USA we would say we were Santa’s helpers but here in Hungary that tradition does not apply. Here we are Baby Jesus’ angels. The kids believe Baby Jesus brings their gifts on Christmas Eve. So thank you for the many ways that you were Jesus’ angels for many Romany kids in north east Hungary.

Ralph and Tammy Stocks

A thank you note has been received from the
Eddingers, Ralph & Tammy Stocks, Clark & Marylynne Knuth, Ann & Thomas Davenport, the family of Lindsay Whitehurst, Cynthia Hunter, Clara Godwin, Ben & Michelle Anderson, and the Raleigh Baptist Association. Please stop by the bulletin board in Hall A to read their words of appreciation.

Jim Canterberry, Baptist Men Coordinator

Thank You From Charles & Gloria Allard

Dear Church Family,

Coming to the close of our 13 year ministry with you and a career of 48 years is a sobering experience. It is hard to believe that time has passed so fast. Job said that life is like a weavers shuttle (very fast) and he was right.

Your many expressions of love and appreciation have meant so much to us as we enter a new chapter in life. The reception was beautiful and will long be remembered. We are also grateful for the generous love offering. But most of all we thank each one of you for your love, support and words of encouragement.

Westwood has a great future because it is based on a firm foundation. May you always “join God in the work that He is doing”. You will always be in our heart and prayers. May God richly bless you.

Men, women and youth can all participate. No special skills are needed - just willing workers. We will meet at the church parking lot and depart for Grifton at 6:00am. We will work until 4:00pm and return to Cary by 6:00pm Saturday evening. Sign up sheets are posted in Hallway A & B. Please contact Jim Canterberry (467-3216) for details.

Disaster Relief Training

March 28th

There will be a two-day training session in Region 4 on March-28-29 for those people who would like to become trained in Disaster Relief (Feeding) and Disaster Recovery (Rebuilding). If you are already trained, this is a good opportunity to get re-certified.

This year the training will be in Wake County. Disaster Relief training is an overnight event where participants sleep in a local church. You will learn about policies, procedures, and safety. Upon completion of the training, you will receive a notebook, yellow hat, yellow shirt, and photo ID.

You can go online at www.ncmissions.org to download the registration form under Disaster Relief. You will be notified about three days in advance of the exact location. This procedure helps prepare you for a disaster situation. You can also see Jim Canterberry to obtain a registration form.
