The Prayer Of Jabez Revisited
by Charles Allard

Four years have passed since I first preached on “The Prayer of Jabez” as found in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. Responding to several requests to revisit this prayer, I will preach a series of sermons from the prayer during the month of September.

The Prayer of Jabez comes from a man who is virtually unknown but yet remembered for a simple prayer. Jabez was from the tribe of Judah and lived during the period of the Judges. He was named by his mother. Because she experienced such great difficulty in his birth she gave him the Hebrew name “Jabez” which means “Pain.”

Jabez asked four things of God: Bless me a lot, enlarge my territory, keep your hand on me, and keep me from evil. If you need a model for prayer, the prayer of Jabez can get your started.

I believe that something wonderful, powerful and miraculous can be released in your life and mine through this prayer. If you will determine to pray this prayer every day, you may begin to discover God working through you in such a way that you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is God who is at work in you.

I look forward to revisiting the prayer of Jabez. Hopefully, it will strengthen our prayer life and enable us to experience afresh the marvelous presence of God and his power.

Operation In As Much

October 7, 2006
9:00am ~ 12:00 Noon
It’s time to add muscle to your spiritual growth. Working as a team, in only one day, our church members can make a big difference in our community. OIAM is a one-day blitz by Christians performing hands on mission work for folk whose needs are great. Here are some suggestions: visiting nursing homes and shut-ins, home repairs, yard work, and sewing projects.
This mission day is for all ages. Start talking with your Sunday School classes and look for the sign up sheet on the bulletin board in Hall A.

Men, women and youth can participate in this project. No special skills are needed—just willing workers.

We will leave at 6:00am and work until 4:00pm and return by 6:00pm that evening.

Sign up sheets are on the Mission bulletin board located in Hall B, next to the church library and on the bulletin board in Hall A. Call Jim Canterberrry for more information.
